Tent or Corner?

For the past two years I have been purposefully and intentionally reading and journaling through the Bible. Each year I have purchased a new Journaling Bible for this task. The first year as I read, journaled, and took notes, I intentionally directed my entries towards my oldest son. That was the year 2020. You can probably imagine how interesting my entries were as I navigated through that crazy year.
This year, 2021, I am reading through the Bible, and journaling, and directing my entries to my daughter. Next year, God willing, I will start yet a third trek through the Bible and direct my journal entries towards our youngest son. Eventually I will gift these Bibles to them as a keepsake. I pray for many more years to do this for my grandchildren and extended family.
Being that I am very easily distracted and prone to wander off task, I turned a very small corner in my house into what I affectionately refer to as my "SHE CORNER". I also refer to it at times as my "Tent of Meeting". It was a totally unusable space until I converted it for that purpose of meeting with God.
In Exodus 33:1-11, we see that Moses had a physical place to go and meet with God. (A Tent of Meeting) He knew the importance of it. God's presence was with whoever entered into it. (v. 9-10)
In Mark 6:31, we see that Jesus didn't have a "Tent of Meeting", but He did encourage us to go to a "desolate place" and rest. If God himself needed time alone, then how much more do we mere humans need it?
It doesn't matter where or when you meet with God, but that you MEET with God!
Oh how I wish I had thought of doing this when my children were little. I would try to have "quiet time" with God, only to be interrupted by the little ones who seemed to always need me at the very moment I would sit down to read or pray. You see, I wasn't intentional with my quiet time. I tried to fit it in when and where I thought it was convenient. Sometimes days would go by without meeting with Him. But, somehow I survived those years and God was very gracious and understanding. Mamas, God sees you and knows your heart. He gives grace when we need it, but raising little ones is much more peaceful when you are walking daily with God. Trust me, I know.
You may not have a physical corner available in your home, but I encourage you to find a quiet place to meet with God.
1. Walk around your home and seek out a small space you can regularly meet with God. It could be a desk, a chair, the corner of your sofa, or even your car? Yes, I have retreated to my car many times for peace and quiet.
Claim that space as your She Corner
2. Gather all of the things you need so they are right within reach. I have my pens, highlighters, sticky notes, and my Bible.
3. Purpose to meet there daily. Find the time that works for you! Put it into your daily schedule and routine. When my kids were small, it would be after they have gone to bed. I would sometime doze off while praying, but a wise person once told me not to feel guilty because there is no better place to fall asleep than in God's presence.
Pictured here is my "She Corner". I love it there.
Do you have a place you could convert to your special meeting place? Where ever it is that you meet..God will meet with you.

It is totally amazing the love you have God and all your children Thanks for Sharing
